We had a customer (trying to place an urgent pre-10 delivery order at 16:30) who kept getting his card rejected for no apparent reason. When we contacted SecureTrading they looked at their logs and it seems that the problem was non-numeric characters in the telephone number, though unhelpfully it failed to actually tell the customer this kind of important reason instead preferring just giving a completely vague and ambiguous "transaction failed" message.
I'm guessing the chances of getting ST to change that are slim to none, so I guess the answer is to validate the field at the bluepark end before passing it to ST.
Personally I don't care if it errors and tells the customer to edit it, or if it just strips out any invalid characters in the background and sends it on. Just as long as it doesn't try to send alphabetic characters to what is apparently a strictly numeric field?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
